22. Mr. Corish asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of all local authorities the average number of recipients of home assistance for the years 1958, 1957 and 1956.

Mr. Kennedy: The average monthly numbers of persons in receipt of home assistance during the years 1956 and 1957 were 42,877 and 45,904, respectively.

The latest figures available for the year 1958 are as at the end of September, 1958. The average number of recipients for the nine months of 1958 was 45,239.
