Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Report of Milk Costings Commission.

Mr. Desmond asked the Minister for Agriculture when it is proposed to publish the Report of the Milk Costings Commission.

Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Smith): It is not proposed to have the report published, for the reason that there is no demand for copies and the cost of printing the report, which is a voluminous document including over 200 pages of tables, would not accordingly be justified.

A copy of the report will be made available to the Deputy if he so desires.

General Mulcahy: Has the Minister investigated why there is no demand for the copies?

Mr. Desmond: Would it not be more advisable to place a copy at the disposal of every Fianna Fáil Deputy, including the Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach?

Donnchadh Ó Briain: I have one.

Mr. Sweetman: I hope the Parliamentary Secretary has learned a lot [789] and says penance every day for his attacks.

General Mulcahy: Would the Minister say why it is possible for Deputy Ó Briain to inform the House that the Fianna Fáil Deputies have copies?

Mr. Smith: He did not say that I answered a similar question here some months ago addressed to me by Deputy Desmond, and I indicated— and not only on that occasion but on other occasions—that stencilled copies are in my Department and if anyone wants a copy to read he can have it.

General Mulcahy: Good.

Mr. Smith: If we are not asked for them, naturally we do not circulate them.

Mr. O'Sullivan: Arising out of that reply, would the Minister indicate when the Government intends to implement the findings of the commission?

Mr. Smith: The Deputy should have a look at the report first if he is interested.
