Mr. Coogan asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of the West Galway area (a) the acreage held by his Department for afforestation, and (b) the acreage it is proposed to plant in the coming year.

Mr. Childers: The total productive area held by my Department in West Galway for afforestation purposes is 9,062 acres, of which a total of 6,509 acres have been planted. It is proposed to plant 545 acres in the coming season there.
