Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has before him applications from the Limerick Corporation for the approval of (a) tenders for houses, and (b) plans for housing schemes, and, if so, if he will give details of such proposals and the present position in each case. Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell: (a) A tender for the erection of 20 houses at Rathbane has been submitted for sanction and the question of proceeding further at present is under consideration. (b) Plans, specification and other documents for a scheme of 61 houses at Island Road have been submitted, the latest documents having been forwarded on the 9th instant. These documents are being examined. Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley 1806 Mr. O'Malley: Does the Minister not agree that with regard to the 20 houses [1806] of the Rathbane extension about which he kindly spoke to Deputy Carew and myself, the application was submitted on 28th June, 1956, that then there were queries raised all of which were answered, and that we are very anxious in Limerick to get this small scheme started, if the Minister would sanction the tenders. Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell: I appreciate, indeed the Deputy's desire to have this scheme proceeded with and, as I told both the Deputy and Deputy Carew when I was speaking to them, I will endeavour to expedite it. As far as I recollect, this is a direct labour scheme. Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley: No. Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell: If the Deputy says it is not, I accept his word that it is not a direct labour scheme. I thought he was referring to the scheme—— Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley: The 20 houses in Rathbane. Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell: The tender was £33,000? Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley: Perhaps the Minister would look into the matter? Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell: I certainly will, and I will communicate with the Deputy.
