Mr. James Tully asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of each of the years 1950 to 1955, inclusive, (a) the total amount paid in wages to workers employed by Bord na Móna in the production of turf, (b) the amount paid in compensation under the Workmen's Compensation Acts, and (c) the amount of compensation paid under common law actions.

The information requested is available only in respect of financial years. The figures given for each item relate to all wage earners employed by the board as it would not be possible to give separate figures relating solely to the production of turf. The figures given for workmen's compensation claims payments and common law claims payments represent the total payments made in each year without regard to the dates on which the claims arose or the outstanding liability at the end of each year.
