Mr. Blaney asked the Minister for Local Government whether, in relation to the proposed Fanad regional water supply scheme, he will accede to the unanimous request of the Donegal County Council to have the electoral [823] division of Fanad West included among the areas which qualify for the 68⅓ per cent. Fíor-Ghaeltacht water supply grants.

Mr. O'Donnell: As indicated during the debate on the Second Stage of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Bill, now before the Dáil, it is intended by the Government that a new assessment of the extent of the Fíor-Ghaeltacht should be made and that returns furnished in the recent census should be taken into account for that purpose (Parliamentary Debates, Volume 156, No. 6, column 685). The case of the district electoral division of Fanad West will receive the fullest consideration in the light of these returns when they become available.
