Dáil Éireann - Volume 147 - 16 December, 1954 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allocations from National Development Fund. Mr. O'Malley Mr. O'Malley 1849 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, in respect of each of the financial years 1953-54 and 1954-55, how much of the moneys allocated from the National Development Fund to the Road Fund and to the programme under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, respectively, has been expended and in what [1849] manner; further, for what purposes is it proposed to utilise the balances. Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell Mr. O'Donnell: The amounts set aside out of the National Development Fund to supplement the Road Fund in 1953-54 and 1954-55 and the provision for works under the Local Authorities (Works) Act in 1953-54 have been utilised to make grants available to local authorities. 1850 The purposes for which these grants were made available are set out in a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I [1850] propose to circulate with the Official Report. The statement will make the position clear to the Deputy, but I can say that, with the exception of an insignificant balance of the grant to the Road Fund in 1953-54, the amounts made available to my Department were allocated in full to the local authorities and in so far as they have not already been paid to the local authorities will be required to meet balances due to them. Following is the statement:— NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND GRANTS. 1. GRANT TO ROAD FUND, 1953/54. Amount £1,000,000.
3. GRANT TO ROAD FUND, 1954/55. Amount £1,500,000.
