Mr. MacBride Mr. MacBride 170 [170] Mr. MacBride asked the Taoiseach if he will state the average number of persons registered on the live register of unemployment for each of the years 1950 to 1953, inclusive. Donnchadh Ó Briain Donnchadh Ó Briain Donnchadh Ó Briain: The average numbers of persons on the live register at a date at the end of each month were: 53,794 in 1950; 51,639 in 1951; 60,797 in 1952 and 69,973 in 1953. The content of the figures in 1953 differs from that of previous years due to the changes effected by the Social Welfare Act, 1952.
