Mr. J. Flynn asked the Minister for Lands whether he will arrange for the carrying through of large-scale development of bog areas in South Kerry in connection with drainage and road repair so as to enable producers to increase production of turf for the operation of the turf-burning generating station in that area.

Mr. Derrig: The Land Commission have on hands some areas of turbary in the vicinity of Portmagee and Sneem which, in all probability, will be developed for the purpose of providing their own tenants and allottees with domestic fuel supplies. It is not the function of the commission to develop bogs for other purposes.
