Mr. Corry asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the reasons for the delay in the starting of the new industrial project in Fermoy.

Mr. Lemass: As indicated in reply to a previous question, a new manufacture licence under the Control of Manufactures Acts, 1932 and 1934, was issued on the 17th June, 1953, in respect of an industrial project in the Fermoy area. It was hoped that production would commence by August, 1953, but a delay has been caused by circumstances unforeseen by the promoters and outside my control.

Progress is being made in the development of a second industrial [183] project in the Fermoy area and I am informed that the machinery is ready for shipment.
