Dáil Éireann - Volume 139 - 17 June, 1953 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork Harbours. Mr. M.P. Murphy Mr. M.P. Murphy Mr. M.P. Murphy asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state if any grants have been allocated by his Department for the development of harbours in West Cork; and, if so, if he will indicate the amounts and the harbours to be developed. Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance (Mr. Beegan) Patrick Beegan Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance (Mr. Beegan): On the assumption that the Deputy's question refers to quays, slips and other minor marine works, the particulars asked for are as follows:—
Mr. M.P. Murphy Mr. M.P. Murphy 1397 [1397] Mr. M.P. Murphy: I understood from a statement made by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Government that some major development works were to be carried out in the case of at least six harbours in the South of Ireland. I was mainly interested to know what harbours in West Cork have been suggested for major development. As regards the works mentioned by the Parliamentary Secretary, I suggest that at least one of these harbours in West Cork should be developed in a big way so that it will be capable of meeting the requirements of modern fishing fleets calling there. Representations have already been made to the Parliamentary Secretary's office about the pier at Baltimore. An Ceann Comhairle Patrick (Clare) Hogan An Ceann Comhairle: The Deputy is now making a speech. Mr. M.P. Murphy Mr. M.P. Murphy Mr. M.P. Murphy: I am asking a question. An Ceann Comhairle Patrick (Clare) Hogan An Ceann Comhairle: The Deputy is not. Mr. Beegan Mr. Beegan Mr. Beegan: The Deputy should address his question relating to marine works to the Department of Industry and Commerce. Dáil Éireann 139 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.
