Mr. Cunningham asked the Minister for Education if he will state the number of national teachers who ceased to serve during the past five years for reasons other than death or retirement on pension indicating the [559] numbers of men and women separately.

Donnchadh Ó Briain: The numbers are as follows: 69 men, 430 women. I should like to add that many of the teachers have only temporarily ceased to serve, and that in all probability they will resume teaching in national schools at some future date.
