Dáil Éireann - Volume 127 - 21 November, 1951 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief Work in Balbriggan and Lucan. Mr. Burke Mr. Burke 1026 [1026] Mr. Burke asked the Minister for Finance whether in view of the temporary unemployment in Balbriggan and Lucan, due to workers losing their employment in the hosiery and cloth industries in these areas he will give a special grant for Christmas relief work. Mr. Beegan Mr. Beegan Mr. Beegan: As the Deputy is no doubt aware employment schemes are intended mainly to provide employment for men who are applicants for unemployment assistance. A grant has been allocated to provide work for unemployment assistance recipients in the Balbriggan area, but the number of unemployment assistance recipients in the Lucan area is not such as would warrant a grant. Mr. Dunne Mr. Dunne Mr. Dunne: Is the Minister aware of the amount? Mr. Beegan Mr. Beegan Mr. Beegan: I have not that information at the moment, but if the Deputy wishes to put down a question, he can do so. Dáil Éireann 127 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.
