Captain Cowan asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount, if any, paid in income-tax on farming profits by farmers during the year 1950-51.

Dr. O'Higgins: Statistics are not available to show the amount paid in income-tax on farming profits by farmers during the year 1950-51. It is estimated, however, that in relation to their farming profits, farmers contribute less than 2 per cent. of the total yield of income-tax.
