Dáil Éireann - Volume 124 - 28 February, 1951
Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cow Testing Supervisors.
Mr. Smith Mr. Smith
Mr. Smith asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is yet in a position to announce a scheme as promised by him to a deputation at the Dairy Congress held in Mallow in 1949, and in Limerick in 1950 from the cow testing supervisors, assuring them of improved pay and conditions and providing an organisation that would give some real service to farmers.
Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon
Mr. Dillon: I put before all co-operative creamery societies the revised scheme which I adumbrated at Mallow in 1949, and asked them whether they were prepared to co-operate with me in putting it into effect. Of the 196 societies circularised only 49 replied and none of them were willing to operate such a scheme. If any society is now willing to do so I would be glad to hear from its committee of management.
