Mr. Dunne asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that considerable hardship is being caused to shoemakers and repairers by reason of the very high cost of leather; and if he will take steps to remedy this position.

Mr. Morrissey: I am not aware that considerable hardship is being caused to shoemakers and repairers. Representations have, however, been made to me concerning the effect in these trades of the recent increases in the cost of leather and the matter is at present under examination.
