Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of School.

Mr. McAuliffe asked the Minister for Education if he will state whether he received representations to have a new national school erected at Ballydaheen, Mallow, County Cork; and, if so, whether he proposes to take any action in the matter.

Mr. Cosgrave (for Minister for Education): I assume that the school [1685] to which the Deputy refers is that at Wallstown, Mallow, County Cork.

I am aware that this school is in a defective condition and that it requires to be replaced by a new building. The Department has been in correspondence with the manager with a view to having the necessary steps taken for the provision of a new school, but, so far, the manager has been unable to secure a suitable site. When a suitable site has been made available every effort will be made to expedite matters so that the new building may be erected as soon as possible.
