Mr. Breslin asked the Taoiseach if he will state whether our migratory workers who go to Great Britain for a period of six months each year for employment with English and Scottish farmers are now liable to military service on arrival there, and if he will make a statement clarifying the position of Irish citizens generally in Great Britain in relation to compulsory military service there.

The Taoiseach: Migratory workers going to Great Britain for temporary employment are not liable to compulsory military service.

As regards the second part of the question, I have nothing to add at the moment to the statement which I made in this House in reply to a question on the same subject on the 15th December last.
