[1953] Mr. Blowick asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, will be implemented; and if drainage works under this Act will be commenced in 1948.

Mr. O'Grady: The Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, is being implemented. The essential preliminary preparations for drainage works in the Brosna catchment area have been completed, and investigations as to the availability of the requisite amount of labour are in progress.

Mr. Blowick: Would the Parliamentary Secretary tell us when he hopes to turn his attention to the drainage question in the West and particularly to the drainage question in Mayo?
