Mr. MacBride asked the Taoiseach whether he is prepared to consider the advisability, subject to the views of the ecclesiastical authorities, of holding the forthcoming general elections on a Sunday.

The Taoiseach: During the war period, when there were special difficulties, the question of having a general election on a Sunday or Church Holiday was considered. It was decided that, even then, it would not be desirable.
