Mr. McCann Mr. McCann Mr. McCann asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the British embargo on books and periodicals printed in Ireland is a severe hardship on Irish authors and publishing houses; and whether he will make representations to the British Government for its removal. Lemass Minister for Industry and Commerce (Mr. Lemass): I am aware that the open general licences under which books and periodicals were formerly imported into Great Britain from this country have been withdrawn and have been replaced in each case by an individual licensing system. I have already made representations to the British authorities in the interests of Irish authors and publishing houses. Discussions in the matter are still in progress.
