Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Creamery Butter Statistics.

Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state: (a) the quantity of creamery butter produced for the eight months ended 30th November, 1946, and the subsidy per lb. paid thereon; (b) the quantity of creamery butter produced for the four months ended 31st March, 1947, and the subsidy per lb. paid thereon; and (c) the average subsidy per lb. paid on butter produced over the 12 months period ended 31st March, 1947.

Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Smith): (a) The quantity of creamery butter produced during the eight months ended 30th November, 1946, was 519,116 cwts. and the production allowance per lb. paid thereon was 3.1d.; (b) the quantity of creamery butter produced [1155] during the four months ended 31st March, 1947, was 24,368 cwts. and the production allowance per lb. paid thereon was 6.59d.; (c) the average production allowance per lb. paid on creamery butter produced during the 12 months period ended 31st March, 1947, was 3.26d.
