Dáil Éireann - Volume 97 - 03 May, 1945 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supply of Pollard and Bran in Laoighis. Mr. Flanagan Mr. Flanagan Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that such a severe shortage of pollard and bran exists in County Laoighis that the farmers are unable to procure them for their live stock; and, if so, if he will consider retaining what is manufactured in the area for the local people who need it. Dr. Ryan Dr. Ryan Dr. Ryan: As I have already indicated in my replies to questions by Deputy Beirne on 31st January and by Deputy O'Donnell on 11th April, there is, in present circumstances, a general shortage of bran and pollard. Any attempt to relieve the shortage in a particular area would have to be at the expense of other areas and I do not, therefore, propose to alter the existing arrangements which provide as equitable a distribution of wheaten offals as can reasonably be afforded. Mr. Hughes Mr. Hughes Mr. Hughes: Is the output from the mill confined to a particular area? Dr. Ryan Dr. Ryan Dr. Ryan: No. Mr. Hughes Mr. Hughes Mr. Hughes: Is the Minister aware that the output from some mills is transferred to other areas? Dr. Ryan Dr. Ryan Dr. Ryan: The millers were asked to give as equal a distribution as possible to customers whom they were supplying when orders could be fully met. Mr. Hughes Mr. Hughes Mr. Hughes: They are not doing that. Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon: Yes, they are. Dáil Éireann 97 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. Supply of Pollard and Bran in Laoighis.
