Dáil Éireann - Volume 95 - 01 December, 1944

Committee on Finance. - Suspension of a Deputy.

An Ceann Comhairle: I name the Deputy.

The Taoiseach: I move:—

That Deputy Flanagan be suspended from the service of the Dáil.

Mr. Flanagan: That is giving you great pleasure.

Question put and declared carried.

Mr. Flanagan: There is going to be no division because I am going. Thanks be to God I am going out with clean hands.

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry and Commerce (Mr. O'Grady): You have a dirty tongue.

Mr. Flanagan: I leave the House with clean hands. There is no blood on my hands to-day.

[1343] Dr. Ward: When did you wash them?

An Ceann Comhairle: The Dáil has decided that the Deputy withdraw and he must obey.

Mr. Flanagan: I would like to give them a bit of my mind before I go. They are the biggest gang of gangsters and twisters in this House I ever experienced in my life.

An Ceann Comhairle: The Deputy will now withdraw without delay.

The Taoiseach: I think I have said all that I need.

Mr. Flanagan: Feeding India before he feeds his own people.

The Taoiseach: As I say, I know the Italian people have the sympathy of not merely the members of the House but of all our people.

Mr. Flanagan: Emigration and unemployment matter before we consider any other countries.

Deputy Flanagan withdrew.
