Dáil Éireann - Volume 88 - 14 October, 1942

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of Cooking Equipment.

Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will permit the cooking equipment in the Mansion House to be used for the purpose of providing hot meals for school children.

Mr. MacEntee: I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a similar question on 4th February, 1942, to which I have nothing to add.

Mr. Byrne: Is the Minister aware that since February, 1942, circumstances have changed? The proof of the fact that circumstances have changed is the issue of this document that we were handed as we came in asking that provision be made for a fuel allowance for necessitous people to the extent of £100,000. In the meantime what are the people to do who have no fuel and cannot get it to cook meals in their homes for school children and for themselves? Therefore, I suggest that circumstances have altered since February, 1942.

Mr. MacEntee: In so far as circumstances have altered provision is being made to meet the change.
