Dáil Éireann - Volume 87 - 28 May, 1942 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Distribution of Tea and Sugar. Mr. Norton Mr. Norton Mr. Norton asked the Minister for Supplies whether he has received a complaint from Mrs. E. Connolly, Brownstown, Curragh Camp, regarding her inability to obtain her weekly supply of tea and sugar, and if he will indicate what action has been taken in the matter. Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass: I received a complaint from Mrs. E. Connolly, Brownstown, Curragh Camp, regarding her difficulty in obtaining her weekly tea and sugar rations. Investigation of the matter indicated that though the shopkeeper was in a position and willing to supply the due rations Mrs. Connolly withdrew her registration card voluntarily. As Mrs. Connolly has not succeeded in obtaining registration at another shop she may now relodge her registration card with the shopkeeper in question and she has been informed accordingly. Mr. Norton Mr. Norton Mr. Norton: Will the Minister indicate that Mrs. Connolly will, in those circumstances, be entitled to get her tea and sugar ration from this trader? Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass: She will be entitled to get her tea and sugar ration subject to payment. Mr. Norton Mr. Norton Mr. Norton: The trader, I understand, refused to supply Mrs. Connolly with tea and sugar because she questioned the prices which the trader was charging for other commodities. Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass 292 [292] Mr. Lemass: I do not think those are the facts. Mr. Norton Mr. Norton Mr. Norton: Those are the facts. Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass: I think the Deputy would be well advised to make further inquiries. Mr. Norton Mr. Norton Mr. Norton: The Minister would be well advised to make further inquiries.
