Seosamh O Cinnéide Seosamh O Cinnéide Seosamh O Cinnéide asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what steps are being taken to provide John Smith, of Ballymanus, Castlepollard, County Westmeath, with a residence. Mr. Boland Mr. Boland 16 Mr. Boland: The question of providing building assistance for Mr. John [16] Smith is under consideration by the Land Commission, who have directed that a special report be made on his circumstances. Mr. Bennett Mr. Bennett Mr. Bennett: Is the Minister aware that this particular holding was recently purchased by a neighbouring farmer who himself has five sons? Is the Minister prepared to advocate the acquisition of the holding by the Land Commission, under these circumstances? Mr. Boland Mr. Boland Mr. Boland: I do not interfere in the acquisition of holdings at all. It is the Land Commission that deals with that matter, and I can assure the Deputy that before acquiring a holding they take all the circumstances into consideration. Mr. Bennett Mr. Bennett Mr. Bennett: Perhaps the Minister would be good enough to intercede on behalf of this farmer?
