Mr. Heron asked the Minister for Finance if he is yet in a position to give his decision in the matter of the sanction of retrospective payment of increased wages to workers engaged on various relief schemes in the Dublin area during the period of the building strike, and when these workers, who are in a state of destitution, may expect a decision in the matter.

Mr. MacEntee: It has been decided that increased rates of wages to workers on relief schemes in the Dublin area should take effect only from the date of the termination of the building strike.
