Dáil Éireann - Volume 60 - 26 February, 1936 Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition in Roscommon. Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon Mr. Dillon asked the Minister for Lands whether any land acquired by the Land Commission has been divided into farms of ten acres during the last 12 months in County Roscommon or elsewhere; and, if so, how many holdings of ten acres have been made and what annuities have been fixed for these holdings. Minister for Defence (Mr. Aiken) (for Minister for Lands) Minister for Defence (Mr. Aiken) (for Minister for Lands) Minister for Defence (Mr. Aiken) (for Minister for Lands): The statistical returns of the Land Commission do not show categories of allotments according to size. In order to ascertain the information asked for by the Deputy it would be necessary to collect and scrutinise 80 resale schemes relative to County Roscommon and some 800 resale schemes relative to the remainder of the Saorstát. As the time and labour involved in such a scrutiny would be out of all proportion to the value of the information gleaned and would necessitate the diversion of the Land Commission staff from the urgent work of land division, it is not proposed to supply the information desired.
