[1094] General Mulcahy (for Mr. McGilligan) asked the Minister for Finance if, as in the case of previous National Loans, the promotion of the Fourth Loan stimulated the sale of Savings Certificates; and, if so, if he will give an estimate of the increased sales caused thereby.

Mr. MacEntee: The issue of the Fourth National Loan did not result in an increase in the sale of Savings Certificates. Doubtless, that was largely due to the reduced rate of interest now paid on Certificates as compared with those in issue on the occasion of previous Loans.
