Mrs. Redmond asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if it is intended to introduce [390] proposals for legislation whereby relief of the able-bodied unemployed will be administered out of central funds through the medium of the Employment Exchanges.

Minister for Local Government and Public Health (Mr. Seán T. O'Kelly): The general position of unemployment both as to incidence and remedial possibilities, continues to engage the earnest attention of the Government. I cannot, at present, forecast any specific legislative changes.
