Dáil Éireann - Volume 32 - 30 October, 1929
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Withholding of Unemployment Insurance Cards.
Mr. Colohan Mr. Colohan
Mr. Colohan asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that Andrew Connor, Riverside, Droichead Nua, Co. Kildare, Serial No. 1156, has been refused his unemployment insurance card by his late employer, and whether, in view of the inconvenience and loss caused to Mr. Connor, he will take action for the return of the card.
Mr. Dolan Mr. Dolan
Mr. Dolan: Mr. Andrew Connor reported that his late employer had refused to return his unemployment insurance card, and when subsequently, on the 27th September last, he represented that he had obtained employment and required his card, the Department, in accordance with the procedure prescribed for such cases, furnished him with a continuation card, which would take the place of the original pending its return by the former employer. I am not aware that Mr. O'Connor has in consequence suffered any loss. There is a question as to whether contributions were payable in respect of Mr. O'Connor's former employment, and as soon as this has been decided steps will be taken to secure the return of the unemployment card if it is not returned in the meantime.
