CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CONDITION OF SEA-FISHING INDUSTRY.

EOGHAN O DOCHARTAIGH asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he will appoint a Commission to inquire into the unsatisfactory state of the sea-fishing industry in the Saorstát with a view to its establishment on a sound basis; and, if so, whether he can indicate the probable date of setting up such Commission, and its terms of reference.

MINISTER for FISHERIES (Mr. Lynch): I have decided to set up such a Commission as the Deputy refers to in his question and am at present considering the terms of reference and the personnel.

Mr. CASSIDY: Will the Minister see that all Parties in this House are represented on this Commission?

Mr. LYNCH: So far as I have at present thought over the matter, there will be no Deputies on the Committee at all.

Mr. LEMASS: Will the Minister see that all interests concerned in the fishing industry are represented on the Commission?

Mr. LYNCH: When I say that I am at the moment considering the personnel, that is exactly what is in my mind.
