PADRAIC O MAILLE (for Seán Príomhdhail) asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture, whether, having regard to the great importance of cow-testing as a means of developing the dairying industry, effect will be given to the recommendations of the Commission on Agriculture that grants from State funds at a rate not less than is now being paid, namely, 4s. per cow, should be maintained for at least another five years, and that ample funds should be provided to meet the normal development of the cow-testing association scheme.

MINISTER for LANDS and AGRICULTURE (Mr. Hogan): The grant in question will be payable at the  full rate of 4s. on cows under test in the current year. The question of the period for which the grant at this rate can be continued, and of the provision of additional funds for this service, will be fully considered in connection with the preparation of the Estimates for 1925-26.
